General Information

Changing Faces Women’s Leadership launched on the year of 2002 is a program designed to unite women from USA and Asia Pacific region and conduct dialog that concerns leadership and women issues around their region. This program puts effort in improving the role of women from lower to medium level of community that possesses potential to take on bigger responsibility and influence. The program which has a yearly theme is open for women from Asia, Islands around Pacific and USA with all different professional backgrounds. They are amongst shortlisted government officials, government institutions, civil organizations, the private sector, education and media. Participants must also be active in community development, inter-ethnics dialogue or inter-religion or those who are involved in peace groups within conflicted or post conflict area. Shortlisted candidate must possess at least 5-12 years of minimum working experience and communication in English as professional with multi cultural background.
 
This program consists of three stages of participation:
Pre-arrival
Participant will be directed to recognize the identify issues within their organization or community, and mainly train their leadership skills in overcoming those issues. Participants will be encouraged to be involved in online dialogue through a website.
Honolulu Seminar
The workshop covers topics such as: communication, team work development, organizational planning, and introductions of leadership models in relation of diverse culture. Furthermore, there will be field trips that emphasize dialogue activities and community development located in various spots in Hawaii’s cultural and ethnic destinations. The peak of the workshop would be the presentations made by participants regarding their plans that relates to issues prioritizing, and personal action that should be implemented.
Extension
Participants can revise their work plan, maintain good relation with staffs of this program and amongst participants. They will have to report progress of the revised work plan through mailing lists and assigned websites. Participants must submit their progress report in the month of April 2009.
